The Contractor shall not mix more than one (1) lot or batch wi thin a bulk shipment of sealant.
411.3 Construction Requirements
411.3.1 Temperature and Weather Limitations
The Contractor shall apply the sealant in the following condit ions: 1. When the air temperature is at least 40 °F and rising; and 2. When the temperature of the existing pavement surface is abo ve 32 °F during application; or 3. As indicated on the manufacturers recommendations. The Contractor shall not place the sealant during inclement we ather, on wet surfaces, or when the wind conditions prev ent satisfactory sealing.
411.3.2 Equipment
The Contractor shall: 1. Provide router bits of at leas t 1/2-inch diameter that cut t o one (1) inch deep; 2. Use air compressors that provide uncontaminated air at a pre ssure capable of cleaning approved cracks; and 3. Equip air compressors with traps to prevent oil and moisture from entering the air stream. Section 411: Hot-Poured Crack Sealant Page 179 The Equipment for heating and preparing the sealant mixture sh all provide a continuous supply of the prepared mixture and maintain a continuous, unifo rm and homogeneous mixture during the sealing operation. The Contractor shall provide con tinuous mechanical agitation as necessary to maintain homogeneity. The Contractor shall use applicat ion devices that provide unif orm application of the sealant Materials without cloggi ng, or causing other irregulari ties in distribution.
