SECTION 414: COLD MILLING
414.1 Description
This Work consists of cold milling pavement surfaces and remov ing, hauling, and disposing of cold-milled Materials.

414.3 Construction Requirements
414.3.1 Equipment
The Contractor shall use a cold milling machine that accuratel y controls the cross section depth and cross-slope within a 1/4 inch tolerance, unless other wise shown in the Contract. The Equipment must control cross section grade by using an inde pendent grade control or a 40 ft minimum external reference. The Contractor shall use Equipment that provides an enclosed c utting area and dust control. The milling Equipment must pro duce a uniform milled surface. The Contractor shall maintain the Equipment’s teeth and spacing to produce the desir ed texture. The Contractor shall immediately replace brok en, damaged, or excessively worn teeth.
414.3.2 Operations
The Contractor shall cold mill the existing pavement surface i n accordance with the Contract. The Contractor shall adjust the specified depth in maximum inc rements of 1/4 inch, as directed by the Project Manager. The Contractor shall minimize gouges, grooves, and ridges to create a uniform surface without deviations greater than 1/2 inch when measured with a ten
414.4 Method of Measurement
Section 414: Cold Milling Page 193 The Department will measure cold milling to the nearest 1/4 in ch, if by the square yard- inch.
414.5 Basis of Payment

414.5.1 Work Included in Payment
The Department will consider as included in the payment for th e pay item(s) listed in this section and will not measure or pay separately for the followin g Work: 1. Water (hauling, supplying etc.); 2. Hauling & Stockpiling cold millings at Contract designated l ocations: a. Cross-sections shall be performed and sealed by a licensed N M Professional Surveyor of designated locations and provided to the Project Ma nager; 3. Debris cleaning & sweeping; 4. Disposal of cold millings no t to be retained by the Departme nt; 5. Dispose of removed asphalt pav ement Materials, not including minor sweepings, belonging to the Department using one (1) or more of the follow ing methods: a. Recycling and mixing it into Base Course, Subgrade or HMA of the new Roadway, with approval of the Project Manager; b. Break down asphalt surfacing removed from the Project to a n ominal two (2) inch size, or smaller, haul and stockpile the Material at a loc ation approved by the Project Manager or as i ndicated in the Plans; or c. If the Material is to be permanently placed within the Shoul der or Median, it shall be treated by using one (1) of the following methods: i. Machine-compacted; or ii.
