Re-roof permit checklist — Cape Coral, Florida
Assembled from Cape Coral’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
Cape Coral requires a permit for a re-roof.
Cape Coral has not published whether it treats a re-roof as structural for purposes of the $7,500 residential exemption at Florida Statutes Section 553.79(1)(g), effective July 1, 2026, though its guidance excludes structural components at any value. A separate barrier applies broadly here: by the city own figure more than 60 percent of Cape Coral lies within a FEMA mapped Special Flood Hazard Area, and no property touching that mapping can use the exemption. Zones AE and VE are named as ineligible.
