Do you need a permit?
Wichita requires a permit for a deck.
Under Section 2.4.030 of the Wichita-Sedgwick County Unified Building and Trade Code, decks, stoops and porches serving one- and two-family dwellings do not require a building permit when they rise 30 inches or less over the neighboring grade, carry nothing overhead, and have no basement or lower story beneath them.
