Do you need a permit?
Wichita requires a permit for a water heater.
Plumbing work done in conjunction with a building project covered by a building permit for a one- or two-family dwelling new construction, repair, remodel or addition is covered under that building permit and does not require a separate plumbing permit. A separate plumbing permit is required if the work is begun more than 180 days from the date the building permit was issued.
