Electrical work permit checklist — Wichita, Kansas

Assembled from Wichita’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.

Do you need a permit?

Wichita requires a permit for electrical work.

When a permit is not required

Electrical work done in conjunction with a building project covered by a building permit for a one- or two-family dwelling new construction, repair, remodel or addition is covered under that building permit and does not require a separate electrical permit. A separate electrical permit is required if a water well motor is installed or will be installed, and if the work is begun more than 180 days from the date the building permit was issued.

Listed because the city publishes a separate rule for each type — not because this project necessarily triggers one. Whether it does depends on your scope of work.
