Deck permit checklist — Oxnard, California
Assembled from Oxnard’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
Oxnard requires a permit for a deck.
Oxnard's permit-exempt handout does not list decks or platforms at all, so the city has not published a local deck exemption. In practice CRC/CBC 105.2 governs -- a deck, platform or walkway not more than 30 inches above the adjacent grade and not over a basement or story below is exempt -- but because Oxnard's own handout is silent, treat any deck as permit-required and confirm with the building division.
