Austin requires a permit for a shed.
A one-story detached accessory structure does not require a building permit when its floor area is no more than 200 square feet, its height is no more than 15 feet, it does not create a dwelling, it contains no plumbing, and it is not located within a flood hazard area, as published on the City's Work Exempt from Building Permits page.
