Deck permit checklist — Herriman, Utah
Assembled from Herriman’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.
Do you need a permit?
Herriman requires a permit for a deck.
A deck 30 inches or less measured from the walking surface to the lowest grade level around the perimeter of the deck at 36 inches away from any edge, that adds no new roof structure and does not serve the required exit (front door), needs no building permit or other City approval, though required clearances over bedroom or escape (egress) windows must still be maintained. A permit and inspections are required if the deck is more than 30 inches above ground by that same measurement, or if it will be covered with a new roof structure regardless of height, or if it serves the required exit.
