1045.01 Description
1.Structural steel, unless otherw ise specified, shall be furnished in accordance with the general requirement s for delivery of structural steel, ASTM A 6/A 6M (Zone 2 requirements).
1045.02 Material Characteristics
1.Structural steel shall confor m to the requirements shown in the contract.
2.Notch toughness is mandatory for structural steel designated in the contract as main tension members. The structural steel shall meet the longitudinal Charpy V-notch tests as specified in the ASTM Nonfracture Critical and Fracture Critical Impact Test Requirement Tables.
3.Sampling and testing procedures shall be in accordance with AASHTO T 243.
4.Impact requirements shall be as shown in the contract. 1045.03 -- Steel Plate Substitution
1.The Contractor may use either English or Metric steel plates in accordance with Table 1045.01. 1046.01 Description
1.End welded studs shall conform to the requirements of the AWS Standard Specifications.
