Do you need a permit?
North Las Vegas requires a permit for electrical work.
Section 15.72.140.F waives the electrical permit for a list of minor and pre-approved work. Items include cord-and-plug connected portable motors and appliances where the Electrical Code permits that cord or cable, except that a portable heating or heating-cooling unit still needs a permit where it provides minimum heating under the City's building code; like-for-like repair or replacement, in the same location, of fixed motors, transformers, fixed approved appliances, the current-carrying parts of a switch, contactor or control device, and overcurrent devices of the required capacity; temporary decorative lighting; taping joints; removal of electrical wiring and outline lighting; replacement of lighting fixtures in single family residences, dwelling units, guest rooms and guest suites as defined in the NEC; low voltage devices and data links; and equipment operating at less than 25 volts that cannot supply more than 50 watts. The section also covers installations under the exclusive control of electric utilities regulated by the State of Nevada Public Utilities Commission for communication or metering, or for the generation, control, transformation, transmission and distribution of electric energy.
