Water heater permit checklist — North Las Vegas, Nevada

Assembled from North Las Vegas’s own published permit rules. Every line below is quoted from a city document and linked to it. Nothing here is generated, estimated, or inferred from another jurisdiction.

Do you need a permit?

North Las Vegas requires a permit for a water heater.

When a permit is not required

Section 15.72.140.E waives the plumbing permit for sealing a leak in a drain, soil, waste or vent line; for clearing a blockage, fixing a leaking pipe, valve or fixture, and pulling and resetting a water closet, so long as nothing among the valves, pipes and fixtures is replaced or rearranged; and for like-for-like replacement of a plumbing fixture in the same location where only the fixture, the tail piece and the trap are touched and nothing penetrates fire-resistive rated construction, including a fire-resistive rated concrete slab. Replacing a defective concealed trap, drain, soil, waste or vent pipe with new materials counts as new work and needs a permit and inspection.
