Do you need a permit?
Tarrant County does not require a permit for a fence.
No county fence permit exists in unincorporated Tarrant County. The county issues no residential building permits, has no zoning authority, and its published list of approvals required for unincorporated development contains no fence permit. The county's only hook is the floodplain program: all work within a FEMA-designated floodplain requires a county Floodplain Permit, and a fence in a mapped floodplain is reviewed so it will not obstruct flood flows or harm adjacent property. Deed restrictions and HOA covenants often govern fence height and materials in unincorporated subdivisions even though the county does not. Incorporated cities in Tarrant County regulate fences under their own ordinances and permits.
