Tarrant County does not require a permit for a re-roof.
Replacing or repairing a roof on a house in unincorporated Tarrant County involves no county permit. Tarrant County issues no residential building permits, and its published list of approvals required for unincorporated development - Fire Code construction permit for commercial/public/multifamily buildings, floodplain permit, OSSF permit, stormwater notification, and county-road driveway/encroachment permits - contains nothing that reaches a like-for-like reroof of an existing home. The ch. 233 subch. F third-party inspection scheme applies to new single-family/duplex construction and additions that increase square footage or value by more than 50 percent, not to roof replacement alone. Incorporated cities in the county commonly do require roofing permits under their own codes, so the city's rules govern inside city limits.
