935POST MOUNTED SIGNS, TYPE F

935.1DESCRIPTION—This work is the furnishing and installation of signs of the type indicated on existing

posts or poles installed for other purposes including the vertical portion of any traffic signal support, luminaire support, or sign structure support.

935.2MATERIAL—As shown on the Standard Drawings for the corresponding type post and as follows:

• Flat Sheet Signs. Section 1103.04

• Brackets and Bars (Supports). Section 1103.12

• Extruded Aluminum Channel Signs. Section 1103.02

• Flat Sheet Aluminum Signs with Stiffeners. Section 1103.03

• Galvanized Steel Hex Head Bolts, Nuts, Lock -Washers; Aluminum Post -Clips; Lag Screws; Rivets; Anti-Theft Sign Hardware. Section 1103.11

• Internally Illuminated Signs. Sections 950.2 and 1103.03(g).

• School Zone Speed Limit Flashing Warning Signs . Sections 950.2, 954.2, 955.2(c), and 1103.03(h) or as indicated.

• Flashing Warning Signs. Sections 950.2, 954.2, 955.2(c), and 1103.03(i) or as indicated.

• Light Emitting Diode (LED) Blank-Out Signs. Sections 950.2, 954.2, and 1103.03(j) or as indicated.

• LED Border Lit Signs. Sections 950.2, 954.2, and 1103.03(k) or as indicated.

• Permanent Speed Display Signs. Sections 950.2, 954.2, 956.2(c)3, and 1103.03(m) or as indicated.

• Temporary Speed Display Signs. Sections 950.2, 954.2, 956.2(c)3, and 1103.03(n) or as indicated.

• Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon Assembly (or Assemblies). Sections 950.2, 954.2, 956.2(c), and (d), and 1103.03(o) or as indicated.

935.3CONSTRUCTION—Attach signs to supports, for post mounted signs, Type A, B, C, D, or E or traffic

signal support or luminaire supports, as shown on the Standard Drawings. Remove existing signs if indicated. Signs that are removed become property of PennDOT unless otherwise indicated. When mounting as a secondary sign below another sign, install sign at a minimum height of 5 feet on conventional highways in rural areas; at 7 feet on conventional highways, on business, commercial, and residential streets where parking or pedestrian movem ents are likely to occur, or where other obstructions exist; and at 5 feet on expressways and freeways. Height is measured as the difference in elevation between near roadway edge surface and sign bottom. Erect signs in a level position, set on sign brackets, and attach mounting hardware as shown on the Standard Drawings or as indicated. Erect signs by a method that does not twist, bend, or deform the signs. Repair or replace damaged signs. Permanently scribe 1-inch numerals on the back of sign indicating the month and year of installation. Install Internally Illuminated Signs as specified in Sections 950.3 and 1103. 03(g) or as indicated. Install School Zone Speed Limit Flashing Warning Signs as specified in Sections 950.3, 954.3, 955.3(b), and 1103.03(h) or as indicated. Install Flashing Warning Signs as specified in Sections 950.3, 954.3, 955.3(b), and 1103.03(i) or as indicated.

Install LED Blank-Out Signs as specified in Sections 950.3, 954.3, 955.3(b), and 1103.03(j) or as indicated. Install LED Border Lit Signs conforming to the MUTCD and as shown in the Standard Drawings. Install as specified in Sections 950.3, 954.3, and 1103.03(k) or as indicated. Install Permanent Speed Display Signs as specified in Sections 950.3, 954.3, 956.3(a)3, and 1103.03(m) or as indicated. Install Temporary Speed Display Signs as specified in Sections 950.3, 954.3, 956.3(a)3, and 1103.03(n) or as indicated. Install Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon Assemblies as specified in Sections 950.3, 954.3, 956.3(a), 956.3(b), and 1103.03(o) or as indicated.

935.4MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT—

The unit price includes removal of existing signs and mounting hardware.

Includes sign assembly and all necessary connections, wiring, weather-tight wire entrance junction box, photoelectric cells, swing brackets, strapping, bolts, washers, and associated hardware to make the signs fully operational.

Includes sign assembly and LED indications, NEMA rated enclosure contained controller assembly, time clock, solar components (if applicable), wireless/cellular communication (if applicable), wiring, and associated hardware to make the sign fully operational.

Includes sign assembly and LED indications, controller assembly, time clock, solar components (if applicable), wiring, and associated hardware to make the sign fully operational.

Includes sign assembly and all necessary connections, wiring, photoelectric cells, brackets, strapping, bolts, washers, and associated hardware to make the signs fully operational.

Includes sign assembly with LED border, controller assembly, time clock, wiring, solar components (if applicable), detector (if applicable), controller communications (if applicable), and associated hardware to make the sign fully operational.

Includes sign assembly with dynamic display panel, speed measuring detector, controller assembly with programmable schedule option, light sensor, “Your Speed” sign (if applicable), solar components (if applicable), controller communications (if applicable), wiring, and associated hardware to make the sign fully operational.

Includes sign assembly with dynamic display panel, speed measuring detector, controller assembly with programmable schedule option, light sensor, “Your Speed” sign (if applicable), solar components (if applicable), controller communications (if applicable), wiring, and associated hardware to make the sign fully operational.
