618CONCRETE COLLAR FOR PIPE EXTENSION

618.1DESCRIPTION—This work is the construction of a concrete pipe collar for extending existing pipe(s)

from an endwall or other structure.

618.2MATERIAL—

• Class A Cement Concrete. Section 704

• Mortar. Section 1001.2(e)

• Reinforcement Bars. Section 709.1(a)1

618.3CONSTRUCTION —As shown on the Standard Drawings for pipe diameters up to 33 inches, as

indicated for larger diameter pipe, and as follows:

Drill 1 -inch holes in the existing structure with equipment that does not damage the existing structure. Clean material from the full depth of the holes before placing the reinforcement and grout. Grout the reinforcement in place, using non-shrinking mortar placed to ensure complete bonding of the reinforcement to the grout and the existing structure. Completely fill all holes with mortar, and after placing the reinforcement remove excess mortar protruding from the structure. Obtain acceptance for adjustments required to obtain final horizontal and concentric alignment.
