860.1Description.

This work consists of providing and installing latex pavement markings.

860.2Materials.

A.Latex paint Section 1071.1.1
B.Glass beads Section 1071.1.2

860.3Construction.

860.3.1 Submittals.

A.Submit a schedule of operations for the engineer’s approval before starting any pavement

marking work. Submit the schedule 2 -weeks before the striping application. 860.3.2 Equipment.

A.Provide the engineer a ccess to the application equipment for inspection. Do not commence work

until equipment is approved by the engineer.

B.Keep certificate of analysis for pavement marking paint being applied by the equipment within the

vehicle cabin. Provide the certificate of analysis to the engineer upon request.

C.Provide vehicle mounted longitudinal line application equipment with t he following

characteristics:

1.Capable of applying approved pavement marking material in a manner that will meet the

requirements of the contract.

2.Capable of simultaneously applying centerline and edgeline markings at the width indicated in

solid or broken patterns or various combinations thereof.

3.Equipped with automatic electrically controlled skip line mechanism capable of retracing the

existing markings or applying new markings.

4.Capable of automatically dispensing glass beads onto the painted surface, at the required

application rate, by the pressurized gun method.

5.Equipped with at least one steerable gun carriage on the driver’s side and at least one on the

passenger side.

6.Equipped with a footage counter on each required paint gun, which automatically and

continuously measures the length of each line placed, to the nearest foot. Provide proof of calibration to the engineer upon request.

7.Equipped with usage counter, which quantifies the volume of material placed. Provide proof of

calibration to the engineer upon request.

8.Equipped with a hand gun to apply special markings.
