LIGHTING CONTROL CABINETS SECTION 847

532 SECTION 847 — LIGHTING CONTROL CABINETS

847.1Description.

This work consists of providing and installing lighting control cabinets.

847.2Materials.

A.Lighting Control Cabinets Section 1080

847.3Construction.

A.Type M , Type P, and Type R Cabinets.
1.Provide and install all equipment necessary to provide a functioning lighting control cabinet. This

may include mounting to an existing pole or existing cabinet base.

2.Mount cabinets on concrete base.
3.Place a bead of sealant under the cabinet on 3 sides.
4.Do not seal the side with the lowest elevation to provide drainage from within the cabinet.
5.Coat bolts with anti -seize compound.
6.Bolt cabinet to base.
7.Place a bead of sealant on the outside of the cabinet on the same 3 sides as in Section

847.3.A.3, above.

8.Install photoelectrical control on the side or back of the lighting control cabinet, using a line

box (LB) conduit fitting. After installing the photoelectrical control and LB conduit fitting, seal the area around the hole in the cabinet. Photoelectrical control can also be installed inside of the cabinet behind a plexi -glass shield, if required by the contract and as directed by the engineer.

847.4Method of Measurement.

The Department will measure the quantity of lighting control cabinets as the number provided, installed, and accepted.

847.5Basis of Payment

The Department will pay for lighting control cabinets at the contract unit price per each. Price and payment constitute full compensation for providing and installing all materials. 534 SECTION 850 — LUMINAIRE

850.1Description.

This work consists of providing and installing LED light fixtures (luminaires) on poles (not inclusive in this item) with wattage, lamp type, and distribution type or removing luminaires.

850.2Materials.

Provide a complete fixture with a heavy duty, cast aluminum housing, door with extruded aluminum heat sink, toolless entry, hinged removable power tray door for easy maintenance, and fastening hardware that is stainless steel or zinc plated steel. The fixture shall meet ANSI 136.31

3.0G vibration requirements. Fixture shall have a two bolt slip fitter system for mounting on a 1

1/4-inch to 2 3/8 -inch mounting arm connection. A grey powder coat finish shall be applied to the fixture unless otherwise shown on the plans, or as directed by the engineer. Provide electrical materials in accordance with the NEC of the NFPA, and all local and state laws and ordinances governing such installations.

A.Cobra -Head Luminaire
1.Wattage, lamp type, and distribution type in accordance with the contract.
2.Optical assembly includes an aluminum reflector with a heat and impact -resistant tempered sag

glass lens or acrylic or polycarbonate resin clear globe.

3.Refractor door sealed with a gasket.
4.Refractor door latch, constructed of non -corrodible material, sized to enable easy handling that

produces an audible click when locked.

a.Ventilating channel, with charcoal filter.
b.Luminaire leveling pad capable of adjusting +/ - 3 degrees for leveling.
B.Underpass Luminaire
1.Luminaire listed as suitable for wet locations in accordance with UL standard No. 1598, featuring

sealed and filtered optical assemblies. LED module with robust, heat -dissipating housing and durable electrical connections.

2.Cast aluminum housing, painted with premium quality gray or dark bronze paint.
3.Stainless steel bolted or latched door closure disengages top electrical cover for easy access to

LED drivers, surge protection, luminaire disconnect, and terminal block.

4.Formed aluminum reflector and socket assembly with a chemically bonded lightweight non -

breakable glass finish, removable only by using a screwdriver.

5.Factory installed mounting holes in the back and conduit entrances in the sides and top.
C.High Mast Luminaire
1.Wattage, lamp type, and distribution type in accordance with the contract.
2.Fixture with a natural aluminum finish or painted light gray.
3.Luminaire with formed, cast, or drawn from low copper aluminum housing free of cracks and

excessive porosity, with all seams welded.
